Swipe through the lesson cards on the main screen and tap Start. Each card shows a blueprint of the maneuver, your best stars and your best time.

The panel on the left shows your current task. Do the steps in order, just like in a real car: fasten the seatbelt, start the engine, select D, release the handbrake, drive, and finish as instructed, for example by stopping, selecting P and setting the handbrake.

Hints along the way tell you when to signal, brake or turn. New to the game? Begin with Controls, the first lesson, on an empty practice ground.

A run ends if you crash into a car, a wall or another obstacle, leave the road, or run out of time in a timed lesson. Leaving the road is judged by every corner of the car, so even letting the body hang over a kerb counts.

After each run the camera lifts above your car, so you can see exactly what you touched or how straight you parked. Tap Retry to try again right away.

Things a driving examiner would note, for example: driving without the seatbelt, turning or changing lanes without the indicator, running a red light or a STOP sign, speeding, crossing a solid line, driving in the oncoming lane, failing to give way, following too closely and changing lanes without checking your blind spot.

Mistakes show as warnings while you drive and are listed on the result panel. To see them only at the end, turn on Hide mistakes while driving in Settings.

Tap a mistake on the result panel to see where it happened on the map and a short explanation of the rule. Tap it again to jump to the next time you made the same mistake.

A run with no mistakes earns ★★★, one or two mistakes earn two stars, and three or more earn one star. A crash earns no stars. Your best result for each lesson is kept, so you can replay any lesson to improve it.

On the race tracks traffic rules are not checked. There your record is the fastest lap.

Turn the steering wheel in the bottom-left corner with your finger. When you let go, it returns to center on its own, faster the faster you drive, just like a real car. When the car is standing still, the wheel stays where you left it.

Gas and Brake in the bottom-right corner are analog. The higher you touch the pedal, the deeper it is pressed: the top third is full travel, the bottom edge is a light touch. Slide your finger up or down to adjust without letting go. The colored fill shows how far the pedal is pressed.

The switches at the top are Engine, Handbrake, Seatbelt and the Left and Right indicators. An indicator turns itself off when the wheel returns to center after a turn.

The car has an automatic gearbox. Use the P-R-N-D selector in the top-right corner: D to drive forward, R to reverse. Change gear only when the car has stopped.

Swipe left or right on the road view to turn your head. Swiping right goes all the way over your shoulder to the rear window, which helps when reversing. Swipe up to look up, for example at a high traffic light. Let go and your view returns forward.

To keep looking aside while you drive, double-tap the view with a second finger while you look. Double-tap again to unlock. The rear-view and side mirrors always show live traffic behind you.

The first 17 lessons are free. The other 11 come in four optional packs:

• Parking Pack: Perpendicular, Parallel and Angle Parking, Pulling Out, Garage
• Zigzag Pack: Speed Zigzag, Slippery Road
• Town Pack: Small Town, Small Town in Winter
• Racing Pack: Race Track, Winter Race Track

Tap Unlock on any locked lesson card. The pack screen shows the price in your currency and the lessons it opens. Each pack is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and it unlocks on all your devices with the same Apple Account.

If the purchase needs approval through Ask to Buy, the lessons open as soon as it's approved.

Tap Unlock on a locked lesson card and then Restore purchase on the pack screen. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy the pack.

Check your internet connection and try again. If you see a message that purchases are not allowed, check that in-app purchases are allowed in Screen Time on your device.

For refunds and billing questions, use reportaproblem.apple.com, since Apple handles all payments. For anything else, write to us.

Yes. Your best stars, best times and fastest laps are saved automatically and sync between your devices through iCloud when you're signed in with the same Apple Account and iCloud is on. Settings are kept separately on each device.

Tap the gear icon in the top-right corner of the main screen and choose Language. City Drive is available in English, German, French, Ukrainian, Spanish, Japanese and Portuguese. By default it uses your device's language if supported, and English otherwise.

Open Settings and look under Graphics:

• Frame rate: 30 Hz uses less battery and stays cooler than 60 Hz.
• Anti-aliasing: Medium or None is lighter than Strong.
• Shadows: keep them off on older devices.
• Depth fog and Field of view change the look of the scene.

New graphics settings apply from the next lesson you start.

Yes. Open Settings › Sound and switch off Sound effects. The Voice instructor, which reads tasks, hints and mistakes aloud, has its own switch there. Both follow your device's silent switch.

Yes. Open Settings › Gameplay and set Traffic drives on the to Left. The whole world is mirrored: you sit on the right, traffic keeps left, and lesson names, tasks and the maps on the lesson cards follow. It is chosen automatically if your device's region drives on the left, and applies from the next lesson you start. The first lesson, Controls, also asks at the end which side you want to drive on.

Yes. Open Settings › Gameplay and choose mph under Speed units. The speedometer, the speed-limit signs and the speeding warnings switch to miles per hour, with limits rounded to 5 mph like real signs. The trip odometer and the distance on the result screen show miles too; distances in task texts stay in metres and kilometres.

Yes. Open Settings › Gameplay and choose Steering: Wheel, Slider (drag left and right) or Tilt (turn your device like a steering wheel). Steering sensitivity changes how strongly the car reacts to small movements. The first lesson, Controls, also lets you try all three while driving and keep the one you like.

Tap the pause button next to the timer. The lesson also pauses on its own when you get a call, open Control Center or switch apps. From the pause panel you can continue, retry, open Settings or go back to the menu.

Yes. On the result panel, tap the round play button to watch a replay from above, at ½×, 1× or 2× speed, and scrub to any moment. Tap the share button in the replay to record it as a video; Apple's preview then lets you save or send it.

Open Settings › Progress and tap Reset. This deletes your stars, best times and fastest laps on this device and in iCloud. Purchased lesson packs stay unlocked. The same page shows whether iCloud sync is on.

No. City Drive works fully offline. A connection is only needed to buy or restore lesson packs and to sync your records through iCloud.

City Drive runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later. It plays full screen in landscape.

Email us with your device model, iOS version, the app version shown at the bottom of Settings (for example v2.0 (44)), the lesson name and what happened. A screenshot or screen recording helps a lot.
