The short version

Hoofguard has no accounts and no servers of ours: your kingdom lives on your phone, with a copy in your own iCloud that only you and Apple keep. The game can show optional reward videos from Google AdMob — the only part of the app that collects any data. You decide whether those videos may use tracking, and you never have to watch one to play.

What happens to your data

1. What we collect

Nothing. We, the developer, run no servers, no analytics and no sign-up. The game never asks for your name, e-mail, contacts, photos or precise location, and it sends nothing to us.

2. Your saved game

So that your realm is still standing tomorrow, the game saves on the device:

  • your kingdom: buildings, story progress, treasury and tasks;
  • crystals, hero talents and shop upgrades;
  • how many crystal videos you have watched today, for the daily limit;
  • settings: sound, music, vibration, damage numbers and language.

If you are signed in to iCloud, a copy of everything but the settings is also kept in your own iCloud account (Apple's iCloud key-value storage), so your kingdom can follow you to your other devices and come back if you reinstall the game. Apple stores it under your Apple Account; we have no access to it and it never passes through us. Settings stay on each device.

Without iCloud — signed out, or iCloud turned off for Hoofguard in your device's iCloud settings — the game saves on the device only, and deleting the app removes it completely.

3. Reward videos (Google AdMob)

A video is only ever offered, never forced: to fight on after the castle falls, to take a raid's spoils several times over, for a few crystals in the shop each day, or to mend every damaged building at once after a raid. There are no banners and no ads that play by themselves.

The videos come from Google AdMob. To show and measure them, Google's Mobile Ads SDK may collect:

  • your IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location;
  • device identifiers — the Advertising Identifier only if you allow tracking, otherwise identifiers that stay within this developer's apps;
  • which ads were shown and how you interacted with them;
  • performance and crash diagnostics of the ad SDK.

This data goes to Google, not to us, and is handled under the Google Privacy Policy. See also how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

4. Your choices

  • Tracking. Before the first video, the game explains what the videos are for, and then iOS asks whether the app may track you. If you ask it not to, the Advertising Identifier is not shared and videos still work, just less tailored to you. You can change this any time in your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Europe, the UK and Switzerland. Google's consent form asks for your choices on first launch. You can change them later in the game's Settings → Privacy choices.
  • No videos at all. Simply don't tap a video button — nothing else in the game shows ads.

5. Internet

The whole game plays offline. Only the reward videos, buying or restoring purchases and Google's consent form need a connection; without one, the video buttons and the items for sale simply don't appear, and what you have already bought keeps working. The iCloud copy of your save is sent by iOS itself whenever a connection is available.

6. Purchases

Hoofguard offers optional in-app purchases: crystal packs, the Defender's chest, the Royal Charter and the crystal mine. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through your Apple Account — we never see your name, card or payment details. The game checks Apple's signed confirmation of a purchase on your device and keeps what it brought with your saved game. Purchases made once (the Royal Charter and the crystal mine) come back on any device with the same Apple Account through Restore purchases in the shop or in Settings.

7. Children's privacy

Hoofguard is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — children included.

8. Changes to this policy

If our practices ever change, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
